Got a question on how I should handle this.
I purchased an JWT ECU from Stillen about a year ago, about the same time I had a rebuilt engine installed. The car never ran right, I had everything checked and rechecked, even wound up getting a diff engine. Car ran the same. Brought it out to Z1 because I dyno'd at 169hp. all mods as per profile. Z1 couldn't get my JWT to read on the Conzult, so they put in an Ash Spec chip. Car idled much smoother, put down 189hp. Only problem is I was getting 20mpg highway 17mpg city, while with the JWT I could get 24 mpg on the Highway. So I send Stillen the ECU because: 1 Less HP, 2 would not be read by ConZult, 3 car ran rough. Needless to say, they tell me that the chip bech test just fine, and send it back. I put the JWT back in my car to see if it will run right and I get hesitation from 1750-2500RPM, rough idle, and some black smoke comming from the tail pipes on accel. So I have a feeling Stillen is gonna tell me that they checked the ECU and nothing is wrong, but the car runs right with the AShspec chip. Is there something besides the ECU's that would cause this?
